2010 Legal Update
After a lengthy period of layoffs and restructuring, many employers are returning their attention to the improvement of workplace policies and compliance with revised rules and statutes. We will discuss a few of the areas of the law, changes and additions that demand attention.
Specifically, we will discuss:
- How recent changes to the ADA and FMLA have affected employer and employee rights and duties;
- What restrictions an employer should place on employees' use of mobile devices; and
- How to optimize your companies' internal investigation procedures and results.
- COBRA and Ohio Mini-COBRA updates
- What every employer should know about credit checks and bankruptcy laws
- Are You Ready For an I-9 Audit? It's Time to Get Your I-9's In Order!
- Screening Applicants Using Social Networking Sites: Legal or Liability?
- What you MUST know when working with a background check company (what the law refers to as a consumer-reporting agency)
While the subject matter of this presentation is diverse, the message is consistent: maximizing employee efficiency and reducing the risk for damages are necessary steps to achieving a healthy company.
